This was a charity challenge for the River Wye, Symonds Yat trail taken on by West Mercia Womens Aid. The challenge group showed determination and passion with a 9 mile canoe journey and a demanding 10.5 mile hike.

One Epic Challenge, Countless Memories

  • 9:00AM:
    • The group launched onto the River Wye for a 9 mile canoe journey from Kerne Bridge to Symonds Yat. Paddling through one of the UK’s most scenic canoe routes, the team enjoyed incredible views across the Wye Valley while working together to complete the first stage of the challenge.
  • 12.30PM:
    • After completing the canoe section, participants regrouped at Symonds Yat for a short rest, refreshments and preparation for the next stage of the day.
  • 13:00PM:
    • The team set off on a demanding 10.5 mile hike through woodland trails, steep hills and famous viewpoints surrounding the Wye Valley.
  • 14.30PM:
    • One of the key highlights of the route saw the group climb towards King Arthur’s Cave, taking in the historic landmark and stunning scenery along the way.
  • 16:00PM:
    • The challenge continued with the descent towards the iconic Biblins Bridge, where participants crossed the suspension bridge before tackling the final section of the route.
  • 17:30PM:
    • The final major climb of the day took the team up to Symonds Yat Rock. Reaching the summit rewarded participants with breathtaking panoramic views overlooking the River Wye and surrounding forest.
  • 18.30PM:
    • After descending back into Symonds Yat West, the challenge concluded at The Royal Lodge where the team celebrated completing an incredible day of adventure, teamwork and fundraising.

The team spent months preparing for the challenge, training hard alongside support from Mark and the team at Your Adventure Challenge. Together, they worked on building fitness, endurance and canoe training.
