What a day it was for the Family Haven team.
On Saturday 22 August, a team of 13 brilliant people took on our 10.5 mile end to end Malvern Hills Challenge, and they did amazingly. They have also raised over £2,500!
Setting off from the northern end of the hills, the team walked the whole Malvern Hills ridge, all 15 peaks from North Hill to Chase End Hill in the south. They faced steep climbs, knee-testing descents and the famous Malvern rollercoaster, where there's barely a flat bit to be found. One of the highlights was reaching the top of Worcestershire Beacon, the highest point on the hills, where the views across Worcestershire and Herefordshire made every step worth it. After a well-earned stop to rest and refuel, the team kept going through the tough middle section and the last climbs. Tired legs didn't stop them. With plenty of grit, teamwork and encouragement, they made it all the way to the finish.

The team were walking to raise vital funds for The Family Haven, a Gloucester charity that has supported disadvantaged and vulnerable families since 1988. The Family Haven gives parents and their pre-school children a warm, safe day centre, with an Ofsted Outstanding nursery. It also offers a hot family lunch, laundry facilities, free clothing, help with benefits, and parenting and healthy eating classes. For many of the families who come through its doors, it really is a home away from home. Every mile walked and every pound raised helps keep that support going.
