This three day expedition journeys through the heart of the Cairngorms, combining ancient woodland, high mountain plateaux and one of Scotland’s most dramatic mountain passes. With big distances and around 1,800 metres of ascent, it is a demanding adventure suited to fit and experienced walkers.

- Day One Rothiemurchus and Glenmore
The expedition begins in Rothiemurchus Forest, passing through ancient Caledonian pine woodland and alongside lochs beneath the northern Cairngorms. The route continues into Glenmore, offering a steady introduction to the terrain before settling in for the night. Duration approx. 4-5 hours with a distance of 12-14km. - Day Two Ben Macdui and Cairngorm Traverse
- Day two tackles the high ground of the Cairngorm plateau, climbing towards Ben Macdui, Scotland’s second highest mountain. This exposed and expansive landscape is often compared to an arctic wilderness, with long stretches of remote, high level walking and far reaching views across the central Highlands. Duration approx. 7-8 hours with a distance of 18-20km.
- Day Three Lairig Ghru
The final day completes a long traverse of the Lairig Ghru, a vast U shaped valley carved by glaciers. The route passes landmarks such as the Pools of Dee and Corrour Bothy, finishing with a dramatic journey through one of the most iconic mountain passes in Scotland. Duration approx. 9-10 hours with a distance of 27-34km.
