This remote expedition explores the wild landscapes of Assynt, centred on the iconic mountain Suilven. It is a demanding three day journey through open moorland, rocky ground and dramatic mountain scenery, ideal for those seeking isolation, challenge and outstanding views.
Route:
- Day One
The expedition begins with a long trek across rugged moorland and loch dotted terrain, heading deep into the Assynt wilderness. After approximately three and a half to four and a half hours of walking, the route reaches Suileag Bothy, where the group settles in for the night surrounded by remote Highland scenery. - Day Two
Day two focuses on the ascent of Suilven. A steep climb leads onto the mountain’s distinctive ridge, followed by a traverse to Caisteal Liath, the highest summit. From the ridge, enjoy wide reaching views across the coastline, lochs and surrounding mountains. The route then descends back to Suileag Bothy, allowing time to rest and explore the area during the afternoon. - Day Three
The final day retraces the route out through the wilderness, crossing open moorland and remote paths before finishing around midday.
