This mixed adventure challenge combines canoeing on the River Wye with a scenic woodland hike around Symonds Yat, delivering a varied and rewarding day in one of the UK’s most beautiful river landscapes.
Trip Overview:
- Distance: 7 miles walking, 8 miles canoeing
- Difficulty: Good level of fitness required, canoe training provided before challenge
Route:
- The challenge begins with a canoe journey from Kerne Bridge, paddling downstream through the heart of the Wye Valley. This eight mile stretch offers calm flowing water, limestone cliffs and rich wildlife, making it accessible while still engaging. Canoe training is provided before setting off.
- On reaching Symonds Yat, the challenge continues on foot with a seven mile hike through the Forest of Dean. The walking route climbs through woodland trails to key landmarks including King Arthur’s Cave and Symonds Yat Rock, where panoramic views stretch across the Wye Valley.
Cost:
