The Ring of Steall is one of Scotland’s most dramatic mountain challenges, forming a high level circuit around Glen Nevis. This full day route links four classic Munros via narrow ridges and exposed terrain, delivering a demanding and highly rewarding Highland adventure.
Route:
- The challenge begins near Glen Nevis, following the path towards An Steall Gorge before climbing steeply onto the ridge. The route ascends An Gearanach, the first Munro of the day, setting the tone with sustained climbing and immediate exposure.
- From here, the route continues along the narrow ridge to Stob Coire a Chairn and Am Bodach, where careful footwork is required along airy sections with significant drops. The final Munro, Sgurr a Mhà im, provides wide ranging views across Ben Nevis and the surrounding Highlands.
- The descent follows a long, steep path back into Glen Nevis, completing the loop.
